The southern part of Nuremberg: A world characterized by social insecurity, violence and cultural diversity. During a workshop «Creative Writing» at a lower secondary school poetry slammer Lucas Fassnacht tries to make five teenagers understand, that they have something interesting to tell. The aim is clear: Omar, Kathi, Alida, Giselle and Nadine are going to perform, with their own texts in front of a large audience. But ahead there is a long and winding road: Again and again the pupils have to fight against private problems, the temptation of smartphones, school stress and their own resignation. Slowly they discover a fascination for the stage and their own creativity. Their personal stories develop a force and authenticity that you wouldn’t expect.

Director Biography — Martin Kießling
Martin Kießling, 1985 in Franken geboren, zog es nach Abitur und Zivildienst in die Medienstadt München, wo
er mehrere Praktika im Bereich Fernsehen und Film sowie eine Ausbildung zum
Mediengestalter Bild und Ton absolvierte. Es folgte ein Design Studium an der renommierten Ohm Hochschule Nürnberg, das er 2014 im Fach Film & Animation erfolgreich abschloss. Parallel arbeitete er in den unterschiedlichsten Gewerken des Films, zuerst vor allem im Bereich Kamera und Beleuchtung, später verstärkt als Produktions- und Regieassistent für namhafte Firmen wie X Filme, Studio Hamburg und Amalia Film. Kurzfilme, die er als Autor und Regisseur realisierte, wurden auf internationalen Filmfestivals präsentiert und mit Preisen ausgezeichnet. Martin ist Hollywood-Stipendiat des MedienCampus Bayern und weltweit als Kameramann, Filmeditor und Regisseur tätig.

Martin Kießling was born in Germany in 1985. After graduating from high school and completing his civil service, he completed several internships in TV- and film productions, as well as an apprenticeship as an audiovisual media designer. In own and student film projects, he gained initial experience in various departments such as camera, lighting and directing. This was followed by studies at the Faculty of Design at the Georg-Simon-Ohm University of Nuremberg with a focus on film & animation, photography and verbal communication, which he successfully completed in 2014 with a screenplay. Short films that he realized as a writer and director during his studies were presented at numerous international film festivals and awarded prizes. In 2011 Martin was selected for the HollywoodChampion of the MedienCampus Bayern and took part in international workshops and a career training in Los Angeles. During his studies, he also assisted well-known production companies such as XFilme, Sparkling Pictures and Amalia Film. Martin works internationally as a cameraman, film editor, director and author and designs documentaries, feature films, commercials and music videos.
